No, that's not the official list (see below for that.) It's my list. I'm much more of a sunset than sunrise person, so only two out of mine of are sunrises. Venice, only because I was jetlagged amd took the opportunity to have a look at the city at her most empty, walking through the empty 'calle' past Piazza San Marco, (usually cheek to jowl with tourists) where a lone bride and groom were having their photo taken, to the lagoon, to watch the sun rise over the gondolas bobbing in the water.

Zimbabwe, was another sunrise, because we did an early morning croc-and-hippo safari. The water was black and as still as a mirror at first, until the rising sun tinted it all shades of luminous gold. Watching the river come to life was a moment I'll not forget.

I've only been to 4 destinations on this list; Santorini, Bali, Angkor Wat and Uluru and the one commonality we share is Uluru. For me, part of a perfect sunset experience is not sharing it with a million other people and their phones, so for that reason Santorini , Bali and Angkor Wat didn't make it onto mine.

The destinations on this list (compiled by luggage storage company Bounce) were given a score based on number of travel articles and blogs which recommend them, the number of Instagram posts and the level of pollution caused by artificial light in each area. Then sunrise and sunset scores are combined. What do you think? Do you have any favourite sunrise or sunset destinations?
